About my photo galleries
This site is just a landing spot for my photo galleries. I'm not much of a blogger at this time, although in the future I may use this site to capture what I was thinking or feeling when I took particular photographs.
My style is probably hard to nail down, especially since I am still relatively new to photography. My photographs do have some common threads here and there, including "off-tone" B&W, and some photos that are undersaturated. I do all of my "digital darkroom" work in PS CS3, with the brunt of the up-front work handled in Adobe Camera Raw. I try to keep things as real as possible, but enjoy exploring what can be done with tones, intensities and saturation; sometimes I like to subtly exaggerate the balance of certain elements to make my best attempt at conveying the feeling I had at the moment I took the photograph. I have also dabbled with HDR techniques, but getting a satisfactory outcome can be elusive, to say the least.
My first gallery page, which is still up, but I no longer maintain, is hosted by the art community deviantArt. Over the last 2 or 3 years, I primarily posted downloadable scenery wallpapers formatted for the Mac widescreens, about 200 in total. Several of the wallpapers have been very popular, and were featured in several wallpaper collections that other folks at dA had put together. I will probably take my content off of the site soon. I've found a lot of folks overseas have been downloading wallpapers and re-hosting at their sites. Granted, all the ones I have found do give me credit, but it completely destroys my control over the distribution of content.
My newest gallery, and the one I am moving my current efforts towards is hosted at Zenfolio. I like this site because it has more of a gallery feel to it, and offers some very nice web based viewing features, such as a full screen slide show and more intuitive categorization. In addition, it gives me a lot more e-commerce options, as well as access controls.
